Zion Williamson will have to get used to that creole food as he makes his home in New Orleans.
But where did Zion really want to go?
According to ESPN’s Marc J. Spears, Zion was actually rooting for the Knicks to get the #1 spot and he was “quickly whisked out of the room” after the Pelicans prevailed.
Zion Williamson was QUICKLY whisked out of the room after Pelicans were announced the winner of the draft lottery. Source said the former Duke star was rooting to go to New York, but now is going to New Orleans.

Doesn’t mean much now, but I had also heard that Zion Williamson was looking forward to playing in New York, excited about the opportunity. https://t.co/eXCM6EvI8W

Entering the draft lottery, New Orleans had just a 6% chance of securing the top pick, slightly better than the last place Knicks who had a 14% chance. New York ended up with the third pick.
14% isn’t all that great, and to pin your hopes on that small of a percentage is just not all that smart.
Zion can say he won’t sign there a la Eli Manning, and force a trade.
Now that would fun to watch.
