Israel Adesanya defends his middleweight title against Yoel Romero in the main event of UFC 248.
This fight was not supposed to happen.
Adesanya should have faced Paulo Costa in his first title defense. However, Costa suffered an injury and was out of the title picture.

So Adesanya called out Yoel Romero because he wants to fight the best of his generation. And irrespective of his record, Romero is considered one of the toughest opponents at middleweight division. Adesanya’s will to prove himself against the best fighters helped this title fight come to fruition.
