The New York Yankees really wanted free agent right-hander Gerrit Cole. Ownership gave general manager Brian Cashman the green light to sign him to a record setting deal and they backed up the Brinks Truck.
Cole agreed to a record setting 9-year deal to bring his talents to the Bronx this season. Teams are definitely not holding back on signing big name free agents this year.
