Minnesota’s ownership and front office has created an impression for opposing teams that a showdown between Wolves owner Glen Taylor and Tom Thibodeau, the Wolves’ president of basketball operations and head coach, looms as the two butt heads in regards to trading Jimmy Butler.
We’ve been talking all week about whether Wolves owner Glenn Taylor is going to overrule Tom Thibodeau on a potential Jimmy Butler trade – and now look at this from @wojespn pic.twitter.com/nZnuLY6I6D

“He basically said, ‘If you don’t get anywhere with [Layden], and you’ve got something good, bring it to me,'” another high-ranking league official told ESPN.
If Jimmy Butler has asked for a trade, he clearly doens’t want to play there. And if he does for one more year, he’s leaving for free agency. Best bet would be to get something for him now, than nothing for him later.
As a lifelong Timberwolves fan nothing should surprise me at this point, but this is truly incredible. Tom Thibodeau won't trade Jimmy Butler, so Glen Taylor is just going to do it himself. What an absolute disaster. https://t.co/0ftGv2YH2s
