The Chicago White Sox have reportedly offered free agent shortstop Manny Machado a seven year, $175 million deal. That’s not anywhere close to the $300 million deal he is said to be seeking.
If the White Sox were trying to insult him I would say they’ve done a pretty good job of doing that. Would you expect anything else from this franchise?
The White Sox offer to Machado is for $175 million, over seven years. In some ways, their approach is like Boston's w/ J.D. Martinez last winter — the Red Sox offered $100 million and waited for two months. If CWS offer emerges as best, a big ? is: Would Machado/NYY re-engage?

We’ll go ahead and cross the White Sox of the list of potential landing spots for the 26-year-old. Machado’s not worth $300 million but he’ll definitely find a team that will pay him well into the $200 million range.
