On Thursday night Vikings’ long snapper Kevin McDermott left everything on the field, including the tip of his pinky finger. According to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, he lost the tip of his pinky finger on his left hand after he got it caught in an opponent’s helmet.
McDermott went to the locker room, got a few stitches and returned to the game.
I’m told Kevin McDermott lost the tip of his pinky tonight when it got caught in a player’s face mask. He got it stitched up in the game and was able to go back out. The belief is he’ll be able to play through it going forward.

They don’t play around in Minnesota, even their long snapper is a tough guy. McDermott isn’t the first guy to lose part of his finger in a game, but he might be the first long snapper to do so.
