Shelley Meyer expressed her desire for her husband to leave the coaching profession after the Buckeyes’ 28-23 win against Washington.
Urban Meyer, who will be succeeded by Buckeyes offensive coordinator Ryan Day, will become an assistant athletic director at Ohio State and will co-teach a course titled Leadership and Character in Ohio State’s Fisher College of Business this spring.
Shelley Meyer said that she thinks Urban’s new role as an assistant AD will be a good fit because it will keep him busy and around the program’s players. Although she called the change “bittersweet,” she said she welcomed her husband taking on a job that doesn’t come with the stress of being a head football coach.
She spoke before the game:

“It’s an end to something that we’ve been doing for a long, long, long time,” she said. “I’m sad, but I’m really happy for him because this is what needed to happen right now.
“He’s been fun again. He’s back to the Urban I knew when he wasn’t so stressed out and anxious and having headaches.”
Hopefully this is the last time we see these two on the field.

But who knows if Urban will coach again.
