Umpire Dan Bellino caught Rockies pitcher Mike Dunn’s 91 MPH fastball with his bicep. The odd catch allowed the baserunners to advance and counted a no pitch.
Dunn probably won’t hear the end of this from his fellow Rockies pitchers. He’ll always be the guy who had a pitch caught by an umpire.
This is certainly something you don’t see at the ballpark every day. The worst part for the pitcher’s ego is the umpire didn’t seem at all fazed by catching his fastball with his bicep.
