UMBC beat Virginia 74-54 in the NCAA Tournament last season to become the first 16 seed to defeat a 1 seed in the tournament’s history.  

On Saturday the UMBC basketball program hung a banner to recognize their America East Conference championship season, along with one to commemorate their historic upset over Virginia.

Virginia fans probably aren’t happy about the banner and the reminder of a lost season.  But when you win, you get to hang the banners.  

UMBC may never have a bigger win in the history of their basketball program than the upset of Virginia, in the NCAA Tournament.
