Nationals shortstop Trea Turner had an interesting night on Tuesday. He was both praised for his hustle and benched for his lack of hustle.
You can't make this stuff up. Trea Turner just won "Heart & Hustle Award" voted by players. “Trea has an admirable work ethic & consistently gives his all on the field." TRUE. But he should sit tonite for not running last nite. Baseball drives you crazy: see Turner, Trea.

The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association awarded Turner the Nationals 2018 Heart and Hustle Award winner, via NBC Sports:
The award – voted on by former players – is given to active players who demonstrate a passion for the game and embody the spirit, traditions and values of baseball. One player from each Major League team is awarded the title.
Not saying the recognition isn't merited in the bigger picture, but wow the timing of the announcement by the MLBPAA is not exactly ideal … pic.twitter.com/Odk5eqj8oO

Turner was also benched on Tuesday night for an odd play, where he bunted a ball back to the pitcher and instead of running it out he took his helmet and batting gloves off.
Maybe not Trea Turner‘s best effort here. pic.twitter.com/TgqdkQjxpR

It’s probably not very difficult to win the award as a member of the Nationals. They consistently don’t meet anyone’s expectations and their best player has almost not hustle left after they told him to tone down his aggressive play.
