The Cincinnati Reds reported on Saturday that three 19-year olds in their Minor League system were involved in a fatal car accident on Saturday morning in the Dominican Republic.

Right-handed pitchers Jairo Capellan and Raul Hernandez along with outfielder Emilio Garcia were involved in the accident.  Capellan was killed in the accident.  Hernandez remains in critical condition while Garcia was listed in stable condition.

This is unfortunately not the first fatal accident in the Dominican Republic involving professional baseball players in the last few years.

Condolences go out to the family and friends of the three players involved.  Hopefully the two who survived are able to make a full recovery.
