Prior to Saturday night’s Grizzlies-Heat game in Miami the Heat played a video tribute to each of the 17 lost in last week’s shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas. There was also a moment of silence and players from both teams held a Marjory Stoneman Douglas banner at midcourt.
Heat star Dwyane Wade delivered words of inspiration and encouragement. He said the students were fearless and an inspiration to the country.
“Tonight we honor the 17 lives that were tragically lost in Parkland. We applaud the fearless students that are fighting for their lives. We also make sure that their voices are heard around gun safety. You are our nation’s inspiration. We salute you and we support you.”
The Heat will continue to honor the victims with an MSD patch on their jerseys.
