EPL is arguably the most highly watched and followed sporting event. The same can be said about crypto and NFT tokenmomics, terms that have become part of social media vernacular. It is, therefore, a matter of time before the stars would align whereby the English Premier League would score a goal in the Crypto Trademark digital sphere.
It was in June of 2022 that the trademarks for NFT and cryptocurrencies were filed to the USPTO, by the EPL. The expansive scope of which this cover includes the sale of verified NFT files, cryptocurrency, digital assets, and even virtual clothing. Protection expanded to any mixed reality software within the virtual and augmented verses.
It may have been a coincidence that the news of “the world’s first crypto trademark” came out within a few days of the final match of The English Premier League football/soccer season.
English Premier League
The English Premier League is an association football league in England founded in 1992. It’s currently ranked as the second-best football league in the world. It is one of the wealthiest sports leagues in the world, with many teams boasting some of the highest average attendance and revenue-generating levels. It also has a global television audience of over 1 billion viewers per season.
EPL deal with Crypto
In 2019, EPL signed a deal with blockchain-based trading platform Crypto to launch a new tokenized loyalty platform that allows fans to buy collectibles, including player memorabilia, tickets, merchandise, and other cryptocurrency products.
This move is a win-win situation. For EPL, it’s an opportunity to increase their revenue by expanding into new markets while at the same time giving fans more ways to interact with their favorite teams through a virtual economy. Financially, it means bettors and traders can appreciate the value of EPL 2022 decent odds, both in the sports betting and metaverse platforms.
What’s the clincher?
The EPL is one of the most popular sports leagues in the world, with over five billion fans across 200 countries. The primary purpose of this new project is to create a transparent ecosystem for fans to connect, participate in community activities and interact with their favorite teams and players. This will also allow us to build an inventory management system that allows us to track player transfers so that you can always keep up with your favorite team’s lineup changes.
For many years, fans have purchased official merchandise from their favorite team. This includes shirts, hats, scarves, and other accessories. However, they’ve now introduced something unique: an NFT product allowing fans to digitally own their favorite team’s logo.
This move makes sense as it allows fans to show their support for their team without having to wear an item of clothing or accessory that they might not want to wear all day long. It also means that, if you’re traveling abroad but still want to show your support for your favorite team, you can use your phone or tablet instead of wearing something on your person at all times.
