Alex Smith’s broken leg has gone from season ending to possibly career ending in a matter of a few weeks.
Initial reports were that the Redskins quarterback’s surgery went well and he would be able to play again if he chose to do so. It was then revealed that Smith hasn’t left the hospital due to infection.
Now the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo is reporting that Smith has had close to “half a dozen” surgeries to remove dead tissue and the plate that was put in to bind the bone.

This doesn’t sound good at all. There have been rumors that the infection could cost him his leg. We’re hoping for the best for Smith.
