The San Francisco Giants dropped a hint on Twitter that they might be retiring Barry Bonds’ number 25 this season. The post contains a 10 second clip of his jersey with the caption, “coming soon .”
The retiring of Bonds’ number, which hasn’t been worn in San Francisco since his last season in 2007, would break the Giants rule about only retiring players that are in the Hall of Fame.
Whether or not he should be can be debated until the end of time. As of this moment, Bonds is not in.
But why not break that rule for the biggest PED user in the sport? It would be fitting to break a rule for the rule breaker.
