On Monday Kyler Murray announced he is committing his life to becoming an NFL quarterback.  He will attend the NFL Combine and made it pretty clear that he’s picked football over baseball.

The Oakland A’s heard something completely different and are still determined to convince him to play baseball.

Via The Athletic:

The A’s, however, always were willing to allow Murray to participate in both the combine and draft and gather as much information as possible before making his decision, according to major-league sources. The team also holds a trump card – the ability to offer Murray a major-league contract on top of his $4.66 million signing bonus as the ninth overall selection in the 2018 baseball draft.

This seems like a ton of effort for a guy that might not ever play in the major leagues.  But this is how the A’s have run their organization for years, focus on anything but winning.
