The 13th season currently underway is around 20 matches old and has already seen some of the best thrilling and high-scoring matches. Here we bring to you 3 of the most high-scoring and nail-biting encounters held so far in IPL 2020.
- RR vs CSK – Match No. 4
Rajasthan Royals looks in fine nick this season, and their batting lineup seems to be in the form of life. Against CSK, RR took the first blow for just 11 runs when Yashi Jaswal lost his wicket to Deepak Chahar. But then Smith and Samson took the responsibility and smashed CSK’s bowler to all the parks’ ends. With some great hitting at the end by Jofta Archer, RR posted a total of 216. Vijay and Watson gave CSK a good start, and Du Plessis then had a great knock of 72. Even after 3 sixes from MS. Dhoni couldn’t save CSK from a defeat. Though CSK lost the match, they reached a score of 200 to match one of the high-scoring matches in the history of IPL.
- RR vs KXIP – Match No. 9
This match was just not one of the best matches in the history of IPL and the history of T20 cricket. KXIP, batting first under the lights of K.L Rahul, posted a total of 223 in 20 overs courtesy of Mayank Agarwal’s brilliant century off just 50 balls. Seeing a mammoth total of 223 cricket pundits predicted the match to be one-sided and favoring KXIP. But what came next gave cricketing fans the literal chills. After losing Jos Butler in the start Sanju Samson and Steve Smith took the ship of Rajasthan Royals towards the beach. But that was not enough; Rahul Twetia, who was playing in the emerging category for the team, was promoted above veterans like Robin Uthappa and for the first 19 balls, he scored just 8 runs. RR was in deep trouble, and Twetia was on the radar of critics for all the criticism. But Twetia had other plans in mind, and he turned all the tables around by smashing 5 sixes off 5 balls in the over bowled by Sheldon Cottrell. RR won the match by 4 wickets with 3 balls to spare.
- DC vs KKR – Match No. 16
Delhi Capitals, this season, seem to be a team that is nowhere in the competition when it comes to experience. The side led by a young captain has some young players have shown amazing character in the field. One of the pure representations of the same is their match against KKR. Delhi Capitals were invited to bat by KKR, and P. Shaw, alongside S. Dhawan, gave them a solid start. After the wicket of Dhawan in 6th over for a team total of 56, captain Shreyas Iyer played an unbelievable knock of 88 runs off just 38 balls with a strike rate of 231. Quick 38 runs from Rishab Pant made Delhi Capitals reach a huge total of 228. KKR then came into a bat while chasing a huge total, and it was expected this chase will be difficult yet interesting for KKR because of the players like Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russell and Eoin Morgan. KKR lost their first wicket early. Even after a good knock by Nitish Rana, Morgan and Tripathi, KKR never looked like competing. At once, the fierce hitting by Eoin Morgan gave KKR a bit of hope, but all of it went in vain as the lower order of KKR could not convert anything out of the same. KKR reached a total of 210; however, it was not enough for the side to register a win.
All three of these matches recorded 400+ each for both the sides. Pandits have predicted that IPL 2020 will see more matches due to the Dubai and Sharjah factors. Well, this surely is becoming a great source of entertainment for cricket lovers in the global pandemic.
