Choo, a native of South Korea, said Wednesday that he remembers the financial struggles when he was a 20-year-old prospect in the Mariners organization.
He spoke about it with his wife, who also remembered what it was like for them, and then reached out to Rangers officials to organize the donations.
MLB set a record with $10.9 billion in revenue in 2019, but the league won’t approach that figure this year since the season was suspended in mid-March.
