Sergio Garcia and his wife Angela proudly showed off their adorable offspring on Wednesday, when they teamed up for a set of heartwarming family portraits ahead of a gala dinner at France’s Palace of Versailles to mark the 2018 Ryder Cup.
The 38-year-old Spanish golfer and wife Angela held little Azalea, who effortlessly posed for the camera as she stole the show in a white babygrow decorated with unicorns and ice cream cones.
Sergio named his daughter after Augusta.
Explaining the name-selecting process to the Golf Channel earlier this year, Garcia said: ‘The year before we came to Augusta, we were talking about kids and names and how many and things like that, and out of the blue she came up with the idea.’
He then recalled his wife asking him: ‘Why don’t we name our first kid regarding where you win your first major?’
So, we started looking at different names from here, related to Augusta, obviously looked at Georgia,’ Garcia continued. ‘We looked at Magnolia, Holly, different ones, but we really liked Azalea, for different reasons.
‘First of all, because we thought it was a very pretty name. You write it the same way in English and in Spanish, which is great, and also because it’s the hole that kind of turned things around in the final round and kind of got me going, to be able to win the Masters last year.’
‘So, it’s just one of those nice stories that we’ll be able to tell her when she grows up a little bit,’ he concluded.
The golfer tied the knot with his wife announced their engagement in January 2017, before tying the knot six months later. Sergio looks really happy.
