Playing a game of connect the dots between San Antonio sports franchises leaving for Las Vegas? First the Spurs’ WNBA team and now its American Hockey League franchise, so what’s next?

Well, leave the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs out of the conversation. At least, that’s the word from one Spurs executive who said “We’re not going anywhere,” that the sale of those two minor league entities is not clearing a path for San Antonio’s NBA team to follow suit. The Spurs exec says the AHL’s Rampage lost millions every year, and the Spurs as an organization just couldn’t afford to keep forfeiting that kind of money annually. The sale of the Rampage, the executive added, is a move made to make Spurs Sports and Entertainment stronger in their own market of San Antonio.
