Former USC quarterback Sam Darnold didn’t throw at the NFL Combine. He chose instead to wait until his pro day on Wednesday and on Wednesday it decided to rain.
That didn’t keep him from throwing and impressing those who showed up. It was almost as if he is the only quarterback in the history of quarterbacking to ever throw in the rain.
The rain is coming down at @USC_Athletics' Pro Day and Sam Darnold is putting on a show.

Wow look at that, Darnold can overthrow two different receivers, with absolutely no defense, in the rain. That’s pretty impressive stuff.
Feedback coming in from Sam Darnold's pro day is that he's looked very, very good despite the rain

All Sam Darnold did today was prove why he should be and IMO will be the #1 pick in the draft. Completely lit it up rain and shine.

What is happening to Sam Darnold right now is every QB's worst nightmare — RAIN!!!!

Darnold’s QB coach Jordan Palmer said Sam called off USC officials trying to move up pro day so he could avoid throwing in the rain. “He said, ‘No, if it rains, it rains.’”

If throwing passes in the general area of his targets, in the rain, wasn’t impressive enough to get him drafted number one overall, nothing is. I mean, it isn’t a 50 yard pass to a field goal post from your knees, but it was impressive nonetheless.
Did I mention it was raining? Because it was raining.
