Royals catcher Salvador Perez got a little help from Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo’s face. A ball in the dirt that Perez blocked, bounced up and caught Choo in the face, causing it to land right in front of the plate. He picked the ball up and threw out Delino DeShields trying to advance on the play.
Deshields was confused as to how the ball beat him to second base. He has his teammate’s face to thank for the caught stealing.
You probably won’t see a play like this one again. That would be just fine for DeShields.
