During the Celtics win over the Thunder, Russell Westbrook tried to end Celtics big man Aron Baynes. Baynes decided to tie his shoe instead of play offense. He was still on the floor tying his shoe when the Thunder had the ball.
Westbrook took notice and took the ball right at him. Unfortunately Westbrook lost the handle, Baynes noticed he was about to be ended and the posterization didn’t take place.
The play was so close to the first on court retirement in the history of the NBA. The lesson here is to never tie your shoe under your opponent’s basket, unless you have your retirement papers ready.
