Houston Rockets wing Danuel House was ruled out for the remainder of the NBA playoffs on Friday after the league determined he had a guest in his hotel room earlier this week.
“The NBA has concluded its investigation of a recent violation of campus health and safety protocols,” the league said in a statement.

“The findings are that: (i) Houston Rockets forward Danuel House had a guest in his hotel room over multiple hours on Sept. 8 who was not authorized to be on campus and, (ii) no evidence was found that other players or staff had contact with the guest or were involved in this incident … Mr. House is leaving the NBA campus and will not participate with the Rockets team in additional games this season.”
The dismissal comes with the Rockets down 3-1 in their Western Conference semifinal series against the Los Angeles Lakers. House had been ruled out the past two games as the NBA looked into the matter.
House started 52 of his 63 appearances in the regular season, averaging 10.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 steals in over 30 minutes per game. The undrafted 27-year-old has made his mark the last two seasons as part of the Rockets’ small-ball approach. House averaged 11.4 points on 36% 3-point shooting in this year’s playoffs.
