Jimmy Butler and Co. weren’t the only members of the Miami Heat organization that were dealt a significant blow Friday night.

Burnie, the Heat’s mascot, was taken to the emergency room after a punch from former UFC champion Conor McGregor in the third quarter of the team’s Game 4 loss to the Denver Nuggets, sources told The Athletic’s Sam Amick.

The incident occurred during a planned promotion for McGregor’s pain relief spray. The fighter purposely knocked Burnie to the ground before using the product on him.

The man in the mascot suit was reportedly given pain medication at the hospital and has since been sent home.

Even with a speedy recovery from Burnie, Miami would need to pull off a road upset against the Nuggets in Game 5 in order for the mascot to make his triumphant return.

Though McGregor seems to be in tip-top form, the Irishman hasn’t competed in a professional fight since 2021. However, he’s reportedly set to square off against Michael Chandler later this year.
