The Boston Celtics are finalizing a deal to acquire Kristaps Porzingis from the Washington Wizards, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Celtics are reportedly sending Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies, who in turn will ship Tyus Jones to the Wizards as part of a revamped three-team trade.

Memphis is reportedly also dealing the No. 25 overall pick in Thursday’s draft and a 2024 first-rounder to the Celtics.

Washington will reportedly receive Danilo Gallinari and Mike Muscala from Boston, plus the Celtics’ No. 35 overall pick in this year’s draft.

2024 1st-round pick (via Warriors)   Mike Muscala

Porzingis exercised his $36-million player option for next season before midnight ET, and the multi-team trade was subsequently completed.

Boston was reportedly set to land Porzingis in a separate three-team deal involving the Los Angeles Clippers, but concerns regarding Malcolm Brogdon’s injury status led to those talks breaking down.

Washington acquired Porzingis from the Dallas Mavericks at the trade deadline in February 2022. The Latvian big man was productive in parts of two seasons in the nation’s capital, averaging 22.9 points, 8.5 boards, 2.7 assists, and 1.5 blocks over 82 appearances.

Smart spent nine seasons in Beantown after being selected with the No. 6 overall pick in 2014. The former Defensive Player of the Year has been the Celtics’ starting point guard in each of the previous three campaigns and gives the Grizzlies an experienced option with Ja Morant suspended for the first 25 games of 2023-24.

Meanwhile, Jones has been one of the league’s top backup floor generals and has consistently ranked near the top in assist-to-turnover ratio. The 26-year-old averaged 10.3 points, 5.2 assists, and 2.5 boards over 80 appearances last season. He’s set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
