The Washington Redskins at last have ended the long-standing Trent Williams saga, trading the seven-time Pro Bowl left tackle to the San Francisco 49ers.

Washington received a 2020 fifth-round pick and a 2021 third-round pick in return, a person with knowledge of the move confirmed.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak on behalf of either team.

Williams hasn’t played since 2018 and sat out all of last season amid a dispute with team management.

The issues stemmed both from his dissatisfaction with his contract and Washington’s handling of a non-cancerous brain tumor that he had removed in 2019.
