WEEI carries Boston Red Sox games on the radio in the northeast. The format for broadcasting baseball games on the radio has been the same for as long as games have been on air, but for some reason they wanted to tweak the format.
via Chad Finn of the Boston Globe:
There were industry rumors about possible changes all season long. One, which multiple sources have said was a genuine consideration, had WEEI dropping the concept of a conventional radio baseball broadcast to make the call of the game sound more like a talk show.
Looks like it has been confirmed.
Story will be up later, but WEEI is going ahead with plans to do the talk-show format during its Red Sox broadcast. Saw the job posting sent to staatalentDOTcom subscribers last night.

WEEI is now denying that this report is true. WEEI is now saying that the agency was merely speculating and that it will still be a traditional broadcast.
This is not true. If you checked with me I could've told you that. The only thing I sent to StaaTalent was a reply confirming that the job was open and people can apply. https://t.co/2IeAGrQB9U

Good, that would have been the worst idea.
Ever.
