At 33, Ryan Saunders, the youngest head coach in the NBA, is trying to do what many experts think is impossible – lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to their first Western Conference Finals since 2004, when the team was coached by Ryan’s idol, mentor and best friend, the late Flip Saunders.
With the help of his mother, Debbie, and future wife, Hayley, Ryan rallied following his father’s tragic death in 2015, and eventually succeeded him as head coach. Now, he’s determined to honor the man who taught him everything he knows about the game. Andrea Kremer reports.
