Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett plans to play in Thursday night’s matchup against the Tennessee Titans despite nursing a rib injury.
“Nah, I’m playing for sure,” Pickett said when asked if suiting up depended on how he feels or a doctor’s clearance, according to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.
Pickett exited Sunday’s 20-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars after being taken down hard on his right side on an incomplete pass in the second quarter.
Head coach Mike Tomlin said Monday that Pickett would be a game-time decision for Thursday’s prime-time matchup.
Despite not posting impressive numbers as a passer, Pickett’s led Pittsburgh to a 4-3 record this season. The former first-round pick has completed 61% of his passes for five touchdowns to four interceptions. He’s also averaging 190 passing yards per game.
If Pickett can’t play, Mitch Trubisky is expected to fill in under center.
