ESPN reached out to Peyton Manning about replacing Jason Witten on “Monday Night Football” after the tight end made the decision to return to the Cowboys.

The legendary quarterback turned them down and the worldwide leader in sports decided to move ahead without hiring anybody to replace Witten.

On Thursday Manning talked about the job and explained that it wasn’t the right time this year and it’s possible that it won’t ever be.

“I talked to the Monday night football folks. I enjoyed talking to the them. I had great conversation. It wasn’t the right time this year. Maybe it will never be.”

My guess is it won’t ever be the right time.  What does Manning have to gain from doing it?  A little spending money maybe.  He has plenty of that.  He’s also got a Hall of Fame career to help him sleep at night.
