NBC Sports writer Peter King isn’t a fan of the hot dog eating contest and called out ESPN and their 30 for 30 franchise for doing a documentary on it. He wants the hot dogs to be given to hungry children and not eaten for sport.
ESPN and the @30for30 franchise has done some really great docs and journalism.
A shame that as at least a fifth of children in America go to bed hungry nightly they’re highlighting gluttony, treating someone who overeats excessively as a “competitive athlete.” Truly disgusting.— Peter King (@peter_king) July 3, 2019
This isn’t the first time King has called out the competition and it probably won’t be last. Instead of tweeting out his disapproval for the hot dog eating contest and pointing out how many kids are hungry in America, why not find some of those hungry kids and feed them himself?
Probably because that involves actually doing something. Sending out a holier than thou tweet feels like doing something, without actually having to do anything.
