The New England Patriots, like the rest of the teams around the NFL, put football on the back burner in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. During a virtual offseason meeting they openly discussed racial injustice.
More than one Patriots player praised Belichick for his leadership. One of the players was veteran Matthew Slater, who said, “I think he’s done a good job of trying to listen, trying to learn and hear from his players and try to navigate this as best as he can.”
