Panthers Reportedly a Sleeper to Land Veteran QB Philip Rivers

Rivers did play his College Football at NC State, so it would be a homecoming of sorts. 

The question isn’t whether Rivers would sign in Carolina, it’s why would they take Rivers over Newton?
