Panthers quarterback Cam Newton missed the final two games of the regular season with an unspecified shoulder injury.
When asked about the possibility of Newton going through a similar situation to Andrew Luck, where he missed an entire season recovering from a shoulder injury, Panthers owner David Tepper wouldn’t rule it out.
Via ESPN:
Asked to compare Newton’s situation with that of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, owner David Tepper said Tuesday, “If you told me he took a year off and could recover and be fully recovered and everything else, and that’s what it took, an extra year, why wouldn’t you do [that]?”
“Now we would have to do other things, right? We’d have to go out and get another quarterback. If you could find me some more cap space I’d appreciate that.”
This certainly isn’t the news Panthers fans were hoping to hear about their franchise quarterback. Newton is a big part of the Panthers offense.
On the bright side maybe we can get some of those Colin Kaepernick should be signed arguments going. Those are always fun.
