Panthers’ MacKenzie Weegar Given a Game Misconduct for Almost Taking a Referee’s Head Off with His Stick

During the Panthers 4-3 win over the Maple Leafs on Saturday, Panthers defenseman MacKenzie Weegar earned a 10 minute game misconduct after almost taking a referee’s head off with his stick.

Weegar’s misconduct came with a finger pointing dress down by another official.

I’m not sure what Weegar’s problem with heading to the penalty box in the first place.  He hit one of the Maple Leafs’ players across his throat with a stick.  That’s a pretty clear cut penalty-worthy move on his part.
