Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson, who was going to miss the Panthers Week 17 game with a minor foot injury, had shoulder surgery on Thursday. He was scheduled to have the procedure done during the offseason anyway.
Thompson will be one of the centerpieces of the Panthers defense for years to come. The 25-year-old was given a contract extension earlier this month.
