The San Diego Padres changed their Twitter handle to Madres for Mother’s Day. That seems like a nice move on behalf of the organization.

They @Padres handle was quickly taken by a college baseball player and he immediately started replying to fans who thought they were tweeting the Padres, as one does when they’re clever enough to realize the Padres abandoned their Twitter handle.

After he had a little bit of fun with the whole thing, he returned the account. He then tweeted at the Madres and said that all he wanted was some tickets. The team replied by offering him and his parents tickets to a game.
Hi Ricky, thanks for keeping @Padres safe this morning. We'd love to invite you and your Madre and Padre to a game when the team is back in town. Check your DMs!

What a time to be alive. Only in 2019 can taking a team’s Twitter handle be turned into tickets. You have to give the Padres credit for rewarding his cleverness.
