UFC president White had been determined to put on the UFC 249 event, even managing to secure Justin Gaethje as a swift replacement to face Tony Ferguson in the main event, in addition to a secret location at an Indian casino in California.
However, with the powers that be at ESPN and Disney asking him to do so, White had to admit defeat.
The 50-year old had stressed that his planned ‘fight island’ would still be going ahead in the near future and estimated it would get off the ground in the next month.
