The Oakland Raiders are beginning 2019 right where 2018 ended. Expect there to be more head scratching decisions for the silver and black, starting with the hiring of NFL Analyst Mike Mayock as the new General Manager.
During his introductory press conference on Monday, Mayock was asked about the quarterback position and whether Derek Carr was in the team’s long-term plans. He didn’t exactly give the 27-year-old a ringing endorsement.
Mayock instead said he wanted to do his due diligence on the roster before commenting on anyone.
Mike Mayock asked whether Derek Carr is Raiders' long-term quarterback. Called that answer "part of my study." Wants to do due diligence on roster before commenting on anyone.

The writing might be on the wall for Carr. As an analyst, Mayock had Carr ranked behind Johnny Manziel and Blake Bortles prior to the 2014 NFL draft.
For people wondering what Mike Mayock thinks of Derek Carr, these were Mayock's final QB rankings before the 2014 NFL draft:
1. Johnny Manziel
2. Blake Bortles
3. Derek Carr
4. Jimmy Garoppolo
T-5. Zach Mettenberger
T-5. Teddy Bridgewater— Michael David Smith (@MichaelDavSmith) December 31, 2018
That looks like it could be good news for both Manziel and Bortles. Both men are expected to be available next season. Maybe the Raiders will help Manziel get back into the league.
