Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer had himself a game on Sunday. The ace right-hander went eight innings gave up one run on three hits while striking out 15.
Scherzer also refused to leave the mound in the 8th inning after recording his 14th strikeout.
Nats manager Davey Martinez walked out to the mound after he threw his 117th pitch and after a brief discussion, he returned to the dugout without making a pitching change.

Scherzer then struckout Joey Votto on three pitches to record his 15th strikeout and end the inning. The Nationals rode Scherzer’s strong start, and refusal to leave the game, to a 4-1 victory.
