Kawhi Leonard and the San Antonio Spurs look to be parting way shortly. The relationship has worsened to the point where he’s not exactly saying where he wants to play.
For the first time someone is actually going on record stating that Leonard has had enough of Coach Pop and wants out of San Antonio. On his podcast HOLDAT (20:55), former NBA player Nate Robinson had this to say:
“From what I heard, from a little birdie, what I heard that the reason why he doesn’t, not that he doesn’t want to play, is that he doesn’t want to be in San Antonio no more, is because that I heard a big bag was coming. But if he doesn’t leave San Antonio that bag is not coming.”
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said Kawhi Leonard is continuing his injury rehabilitation in New York with his own team of doctors, but Popovich is unsure when the star forward and “his group” will clear him to play.
“I don’t know when he’s going to feel, he and his group are going to feel like they’re ready to go,” Popovich said Sunday before a game against Houston. “If I knew, he’d be here. When he and his group feel he’s ready, he’ll be ready.”
Looks like Kawhi’s time in San Antonio is coming to an end, if you believe Nate Robinson. Could Nate be the next Chris Broussard? Let’s hope not.
