According to a source, there is momentum building toward Harper’s return to Washington
The Nationals have already made Harper an opening offer, reported to be 10 years and $300 million.
Boosting that offer by $25 million to 30 million isn’t a stretch, and Harper and his agent, Scott Boras, are said to be seeking the biggest deal in history, which currently belongs to Giancarlo Stanton (13 years, $325 million).
Now it appears he’s leaning towards going back to the Nationals.
Bryce Harper is still expected to meet with #Phillies brass on Saturday. However, a rival executive told me he doesn't believe they'll trump the #Nationals offer, and that he thinks Harper will ultimately return to Washington.

The unnamed executive doesn’t believe that the Phillies will be able to compete with the Nats deal and ultimately Harper will take the money and go back to play with the only team he’s ever known.
If that does happen, it looks like Boras and Harper squeezed the Nats for as much as possible.
