Angels star Mike Trout took a fastball to the helmet over the weekend. The ball knocked his helmet off, but Trout didn’t fall down and seemed to be just fine. He just picked his helmet up and strolled to first base like he had just taken a pitch for ball four.
Trout was removed from the game for precautionary reasons. Although he seemed to be unfazed by the pitch to the head, he returned the next day with a faceguard.
I like a world where a guy brushes off a fastball to the head, stays in the game and doesn’t return with a faceguard. But that’s not reality.
The reality is his mom and wife probably told him to get the faceguard.
