The White Sox announced on Friday that hardthrowing righthander Michael Kopech, who made his MLB debut in August, will likely undergo Tommy John surgery. If he does need the surgery, he will miss the entire 2019 season.
Michael Kopech will likely undergo Tommy John surgery after tests revealed a tear in his UCL. He is expected to be ready for Spring Training in 2020.
He will receive a second opinion in the days coming to confirm today’s diagnosis.

The news didn’t seem to bother Kopech too much. He and girlfriend Vanessa Morgan bought a puppy.
If you were going to get a puppy it’s not a bad time to do so. Should he undergo the surgery, Kopech would have a lot more time at home in between rehab sessions.
