Last week former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb made the case that he should be in the Hall of Fame.  He pointed to his numbers being better than HOFer Troy Aikman’s to justify his case.

McNabb is getting support for his Hall of Fame bid from Aikman’s favorite target.  Cowboys receiver and Hall of Famer Michael Irvin agrees with the former Eagles quarterback, but makes it clear he isn’t better than Aikman.

Via TMZ Sports:

The Playmaker tells us he’s riding with McNabb … but only so far — explaining why he believes the ex-Eagles star has the resume to score a gold jacket but he’s simply NOT better than Troy.

“It just seems like everybody is talking about numbers and not the number that matters most and that’s winning … that’s what playing the game is all about — winning football games, winning Super Bowls and of course, Troy Aikman has done that.”

Irvin also says McNabb played in a different style offense that Aikman — McNabb’s style is more comparable to Patrick Mahomes. And, Irvin says if Troy played in that style of offense, his numbers would have been OFF THE CHARTS!!!

I’m with Irvin about the winning.  Aikman won multiple Super Bowls in addition to putting up decent career numbers.  As far as the style of offense, who knows?

If you want to put them both in the Hall of Fame, put them both in.  There are less deserving players already in Canton.
