Running back Melvin Gordon’s holdout could reach Le’Veon Bell levels if the Chargers don’t deliver a new contract before the season starts. He will not report to the team until they give him top running back money.
The idea for Gordon’s current holdout situation is the direct result of Bell’s holdout showdown with the Steelers. In a clip from 2018 that resurfaced on Friday, Gordon discussed Bell’s holdout with his dad.
Gordon is heard telling his father that he would holdout too.

Gordon’s a man of his word. He wants a new deal and is reportedly preparing to sit out the entire season if necessary, just like Bell. The former Steelers running back was rewarded for sitting out with a big new contract from the Jets.
