Friday was Stephen Strasburg’s 30th birthday. It was also his first start since returning from the disabled list.
It wasn’t Strasburg’s night. He allowed six earned runs in just 4 2/3 innings during a loss to the Braves.
Following the outing he got into a heated exchange in the dugout with fellow pitcher Max Scherzer.

The two quickly took the argument down the tunnel. The exchange earned them a visit in the manager’s office after the game.
Scherzer and Strasburg met with Martinez in his office for 15 minutes or so postgame. Strasburg on what happened: “Part of family. You have to be in the family (to know).”

This is what happens to a team that is underachieving again. The Nationals season is slowly circling the drain.
