Manny Machado has one of the strongest arms in all of baseball and he put it on full display on Friday night in Arizona.  Diamondbacks catcher Carson Kelly hit a ground ball down the line at third base, Machado fielded it and flipped side-armed as his momentum carried him into foul territory.

The throw was right on the money to first base and seemed to have caught first baseman Eric Hosmer by surprise.  Padres pitcher Adam Warren’s reaction to the play says it all.

The play came in the bottom of the 8th inning of a 2-1 game.  The first place Padres held on and won the game 2-1.

This isn’t the first time Machado has made a play like that in his career, but clearly it’s an experience when you’re on the field when he makes that kind of play.
