FOX 4 Kansas City reports that a man died when he tried to light commercial-grade fireworks in an improvised mortar, just minutes after the Chiefs won their first championship in 50 years at Super Bowl LIV on Sunday night.
Police said the incident occurred two minutes after the game came to an end at 9:15 p.m.
Fireworks appeared to be the preferred celebration among Kansas City residents as evidence by the collective burst that managed to show up on the National Weather Service radar.
